Now I'm in Siberia
ok, everyone I've just walked a couple of miles to find this internet cafe. I've been without connection for two days and I don't like that. Now I know where this is I'll come back, but we don't ever have free time. We leave at 9 and return at 9 and are worn out. This is a trip of a lifetime. Dr. Brooks has it planned full of learning experiences to fill us full of Russian life. I have already been to Novosibirsk State University this morning. They spoke to us about their school and the requirements to get in. This school was started 50 years ago to try to find the most gifted kids East of Moscow. Novosibirsk is the geographical center of Russia and has 1 million people we are staying in a small town outside of the city called. I can't find the name but it means Academic city, It was built during the cold war and no one but the best scientist could be here. It has now opened up and others can live here. So all their research centers are here. We have been to some cool places I will tell you about later. Speaking of cool. It is SOOOOO hot in Siberia. Because it doesn't get any leveling of temps because of waters around it. I t has extereme temperatures. Right now its in the 80's and daylight from 3:00am till 11:30 pm. In winter it will be 20 below and get dark at 3pm and won't get light till around 9am. We have a short break and then we are going back into the heart of the city to attend the opera tonight. Russian's are famous for that. If you are friends with me you can look at facebook and see some pictures that Amy Cary has put on there, I have already gotten the reputation for talking to all the Russians'. I started taking pictures of all the brides--I'll have to tell you all about their ceremonies later. But I've become the wedding crasher. I was invited to join in a toast to the happy couple yesterday. Papa was just rolling his eyes at me. The food is ok, I'm finding enought to eat and drink, I still haven't had any vodka, I did try a Russian beer the other night. I'm off to more adventures.
